How to Start a New Budget

To start a new budget, you have two options:

  1. On your Scheduled Budget Day: Tap the banner on your main screen, where it's letting you know it's time to budget.
  2. Outside of your Scheduled Budget Day: Tap the triple dots '...' in the top right corner, then select 'Start New Budget.'

This will lead you to the first screen of the budget process, known as the budget overview.

Budget Overview:

On the budget overview screen you're able to:

  • View the starting balance from your last budgeting session
  • View how much you've spent since your last budgeting session
    • If you've missed adding a transaction, no problem—you can do so from this screen by tapping the '>' beside 'you spent', then on the next screen tap the '+' sign and record your expenses
  • To view the income recorded for this period, follow these steps:
    • If you've recorded income, it will display 'you made' followed by an '>', which you can tap to access the next screen. Here, you can review all your recorded income and add new income if required.
    • If you haven't recorded any income yet and it shows 'you made $0.00', you can add income directly from this screen by tapping the '+' sign.
  • View the total amount of money you currently have across all accounts and sources

Update this total amount before proceeding if its incorrect due to any missed transactions. Remember, this amount reflects the sum of all your bank accounts and cash.

After reviewing everything, including making any necessary changes, proceed by tapping 'stuff your money'. This will take you to the next screen, where you'll confirm your budget schedule.

Budget Schedule:

On the budget schedule screen, you're confirming your upcoming scheduled budget day and budgeting frequency. This process also sets the following scheduled budget date.

Budget Next On:

If this date is incorrect, tap on it, and from the calendar view, select your next budget date.

Budget Frequency:

Your following scheduled budget date is determined based on the initial date (bolded in pink) and your budget frequency. You can change your budget frequency by tapping it and selecting the correct one (options include every week, every second week, twice a month, or once a month).
